Celebrate Christmas with your dog in piece

Dec 24, 2021

Have you ever watched "Love Actually"? We hope so. In general, the holidays and especially Christmas, are about love. Our homes get busy, there are people everywhere and every one of them is looking forward to get some yummy food and to find nice gifts under the Christmas tree. We spend a great time together and it makes every holidays an unforgettable memory. We do all of this out of love.

There should be no difference when it comes to our four-legged family members. They love us unconditionally. So during this holiday season, how can we show them that same amount of love in return?

8 WAYS TO MAKE YOUR DOG HAPPY THIS CHRISTMAS

1. STICK TO YOUR ROUTINE

We all have routines with our dogs. Wake up at 5am, have a bit of breakfast and go for a walk. Snuggle on the couch for 30 minutes before work. Get home from work, have dinner then play outside. Go for another walk before bedtime. With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, your routine can get thrown out of whack. With all of the extra time spent shopping, cooking and entertaining, your pup may feel a little confused and neglected. It may mean getting up a little earlier or having to carefully schedule your to-do list, but keeping your routine will show your fur baby that he’s a priority to you.

2. SPEND EXTRA TIME WITH YOUR PUP

Regardless of how well you involve your fur baby in holiday activities, you’ll most likely be sacrificing some of the time you usually spend cuddling or playing with him. You may be tired after a long day of entertaining or traveling from store to store, but passing on a nap and spending an extra 30 minutes cuddling or playing will mean the world to him.

3.  LET YOUR FURRY FRIEND TAG-A-LONG

Let your pup tag-a-long whenever you can. He loves to be by your side and this is a great way to show your love by making up for time spent apart. Whether it’s picking the kids up from school, driving around to see the lights or even a quick trip to the post office, he’ll be super excited to be spending time with you. The holidays usually mean a change of setting; different activities – different people in your home – different sights, sounds and smells. It’s a time of year for making memories. Show your love to your furry best friend by including him in this wonderful time of year.

4. MAKE A BATCH OF SPECIAL HOLIDAY TREATS

During the holidays, we’re always munching on special snacks or candies. Show your fur baby a little extra love by letting him do the same. There are a lot of great recipes for special holiday dog treats online.

5. LET YOUR PUP BE A PARTY ANIMAL

A lot of times when company is around, many pet parents’ first course of action is to remove their dog from the area. For dogs with anxiety or social issues, this may be for the best. But for the average pup, being around the party is just as exciting for him as it is for us. You may be nervous that something will go wrong, but letting him be a part of the action will help him bond with the family.
